Year 2025 in Review: Building the Future of JCI Europe

As 2025 comes to a close, it is the perfect moment to pause and reflect on what we have achieved together as JCI Europe. And, even more importantly, what these achievements mean for our future.
This year was defined not only by ambition, but by consistent effort, shared responsibility, and tangible progress. Guided by a clear Plan of Action supported by measurable KPIs, and delivered through close collaboration between the JCI Europe Team, National Presidents, National Organizations, and members across the region, JCI Europe continued to strengthen its role as a leadership development platform with real impact across Europe.

From Strategy to Action and Measurable Results
The 2025 JCI Europe Plan of Action set clear priorities around leadership development, organizational growth, visibility, and sustainability. Throughout the year, these priorities were translated into concrete actions – from regional initiatives and academies to improve coordination, governance, and communication at European level.
Designed as a living framework rather than a static document, the Plan of Action was continuously monitored through the JCI Europe Plan of Action platform, ensuring transparency, focus, and shared understanding of priorities. This approach allowed JCI Europe to move beyond intentions and toward execution: objectives were followed through, progress was visible, and adjustments were made when needed. As a result, the majority of planned objectives were fully or partially achieved, while the remaining ones provided important learning for future cycles.
Several National Organizations implemented all 25 initiatives included in the global Plan of Action and many others implemented more than half of them within their national contexts. This level of alignment and ownership demonstrates that the Plan of Action served as a practical and adaptable framework – one that empowered National Organizations to act strategically and bring impact while addressing their specific local realities.
“2025 was not about quick wins. Looking back, I am reminded that real progress is built quietly through commitment, teamwork, and countless hours of work that often happen behind the scenes. I am deeply grateful to the JCI Europe Team, to the National Presidents, National Organizations, and to our members for the trust, dedication, and energy invested throughout the year.
While some results are already clearly visible, much of what we built in 2025 is a foundation – for stronger leadership, better collaboration, and greater impact in the future. This year proved that when we move together with purpose, JCI Europe can grow in a meaningful and sustainable way.”
— Ana Nikolova, 2025 JCI Executive Vice President for Europe

Leadership Development at the Core
Leadership development remained the heart of JCI Europe’s focus in 2025.
Across the region, Regional Growth & Development Academies, leadership trainings, and capacity-building initiatives equipped members with skills that matter beyond JCI – strategic thinking, responsibility, collaboration, and execution. These efforts were reinforced by strong national-level academies and programs, with JCI Europe acting as a connector and supporter, fostering exchange of best practices and shared standards.
This progress was reflected across multiple indicators – from leadership development and mentoring programs to international participation and cooperation. With 4 Regional Growth & Development Academiesdelivered(reaching 150 participants), 64 mentors and 47 menteesengaged in structured mentoring programs at European and global level, European participation at the World Congressreaching505 members, and a further 230 European members participating in conferences across other JCI Areas, significantly exceeding initial targets. And these figures represent only part of the overall results achieved throughout the year.
Rather than focusing only on volume, the emphasis was on quality, relevance, and continuity, ensuring leadership development is a long-term journey.
Strengthening the Organization and Growth Pathways
Organizationally, 2025 was a year of consolidation and forward planning. JCI Europe continued to improve internal coordination and governance, support growth and development pathways for National Organizations, strengthen financial discipline and sustainability, andfoster closer cooperation between European, national, and global levels.
Through closer coordination, guidance, and alignment, JCI Europe contributed to clearer growth pathways, improved governance understanding, and stronger organizational resilience. This work helped strengthen the European area as a whole – respecting diversity while reinforcing shared principles and direction. These efforts are laying a solid foundation for long-term growth and resilience.
The impact of this work was also visible in stronger cooperation across the region, with 8 new national twinningsand 20 new local twinnings established in 2025, alongside the first-ever Regional-level twinningproposed and implemented by JCI Europe, connecting regional structures within National Organizations. This progress was further reinforced by 10 National Organizations operating Alumni Clubs and growing engagement through Junior Clubs.
Progress in organizational development was also reflected at national level. In 2025, JCI Armeniasuccessfully became afully affiliated National Organization, marking an important milestone in its development journey. At the same time, JCI Portugaladvanced toprovisional National Organization status, strengthening its position within the European area.
Beyond these formal milestones, strong groundwork was laid toward the establishment and reactivation of National Organizations in Spain and Bosnia and Herzegovina. While these processes take time, the progress made in 2025 demonstrates JCI Europe’s continued commitment to expanding its presence responsibly and sustainably across the region.

Digital Tools That Enable Continuity and Scale
One of the most tangible enablers of progress in 2025 was the structured use of digital tools.
The JCI Europe Digital Hub evolved into a central reference point for key documents, frameworks, guidelines, and best practices, supporting onboarding, continuity, and institutional memory. In parallel, the JCI Europe website was further developed and structured, improving the clarity, accessibility, and relevance of information provided to members and external audiences. New and improved sections were introduced to better reflect JCI Europe’s priorities and support member development – including dedicated areas focused on skills boosting, leadership development, and resources for National and Local Organizations.
Together with the JCI Europe Plan of Action platform, this digital ecosystem reduced fragmentation, improved access to information, and ensured that progress is embedded in systems – not dependent on individuals.
Financial Sustainability and Organizational Maturity
Behind the scenes, 2025 delivered important structural progress. Clearer processes, stronger financial discipline, and improved coordination between European, national, and global levels contributed to a more predictable, professional, and sustainable organization. Throughout the year, financial monitoring and reporting practices were strengthened, supporting better oversight, transparency, and decision-making, alongside more structured processes and improved documentation to support continuity and accountability.
Acknowledging challenges honestly
At the same time, 2025 also reminded us that progress is not without challenges. Membership growth remains an area requiring continued attention, and some National and Local Organizations are navigating structural, operational, or capacity-related difficulties. These realities are not unique to JCI Europe – they are part of the natural development cycle of any complex, volunteer-driven organization.
JCI Europe’s focus on quality in leadership development, governance, and organizational support is therefore intentional. Addressing challenges in National and Local Organizations requires patience, consistency, and the right support mechanisms, rather than quick fixes. The work done before and in 2025 has strengthened our ability to respond to these challenges thoughtfully and sustainably, building foundations that will support stronger growth in the future.
A Stronger Voice, A Clearer Direction
Beyond activities and numbers, 2025 helped sharpen JCI Europe’s identity and direction. We made progress in positioning JCI Europe as a relevant leadership organization in today’s Europe – one that invests in people, values professionalism, and embraces innovation while staying rooted in its core values.
This direction was supported by increased engagement and visibility, including record participation in awards programs at both the European Conference (149 entries) and World Congress (84 entries) and several awardees from Europe (with a strong presence of JCI France), as well as more structured and coordinated communication across National Organizations. With enhanced collaboration with the Marketing Agency, JCI Europe strengthened its digital presence, resulting in 10,000+ followers on Facebook, 3,000+ on LinkedIn, and 5,500+ on Instagram, alongside an increase of reach and engagement.
This was further reinforced by the continued implementation of flagship programs such as The Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) and Creative Young Entrepreneur (CYE) programs, where the targeted number of national programs was reached in 2025, demonstrating strong potential for growing interest and capacity to further strengthen and expand the implementation of these flagship programs in the years ahead.

What 2025 Demonstrated
Above all, 2025 demonstrated that JCI Europe has the capacity to deliver – to turn strategy into action, to work collaboratively across borders, to invest in people while strengthening structures, and to build foundations that support future growth and relevance.
Looking Ahead
The achievements of 2025 are not an endpoint, they are a springboard. They show what is possible when vision is paired with execution, and when people across countries work together with trust and purpose. The coming years offer even greater potential: to strengthen our impact, grow our membership, deepen partnerships, and ensure that JCI Europe continues to be a place where leaders are shaped and change begins.
With these foundations in place, JCI Europe is better equipped not only to scale its successes, but also to address challenges at national and local level with clarity, patience, and purpose.
Thank you to every member, officer, staff, and partner who contributed to this journey.
Let’s carry this momentum forward and build an even stronger JCI Europe together.
