JCI European Know-How Transfer

“Youth Ambition, European Action”

The JCI European Know-How Transfer (EUKHT) is a yearly exchange program between young leaders and European decision-makers, organised by JCI Europe.

The program lets participants experience the work of the European Parliament and take part in the European decision-making process by shadowing MEPs and joining training sessions, panel discussions and workshops.

The 2026 edition took place from Sunday 11 to Thursday 15 October 2026 at the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium, with a program on all five days.

Overview

What is the EUKHT?

The EUKHT is a job-shadowing exchange between young leaders and European decision-makers. Participants experience work at the European Parliament and take part in the European decision-making process.

It also works the other way round: the participating Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) learn from socially responsible young leaders and entrepreneurs about the challenges their constituencies face, common solutions and community needs. The project strengthens personal contacts and increases understanding between European politicians and young leaders.

In 2019, the EUKHT was shortlisted for and awarded a recognition by the “Altiero Spinelli Prize for Outreach” for enhancing citizens’ understanding of the European Union.

Who it is for

Open to JCI members and non-members

The program is open to JCI members and non-members strictly between the ages of 18 and 40, from any country in the world, not only EU member states. Non-JCI members are put in contact with the National Organisation they correspond to.

Admission is subject to the strict rules and regulations of the European Parliament for participants and for all EU institution premises. The European Parliament reserves the right to accept or refuse participation, and its decision is final and cannot be appealed. JCI Europe reviews applications before sending the official confirmation e-mail.

Participants attend a few online training sessions before the in-person event in Brussels. The event is wheelchair accessible and sensory friendly.

How registration worked

Registration was done online, opened on 15 March 2026 and was complete once the registration fee was paid through the EasySignup platform.

Participants organised their own flights and accommodation and so controlled those costs. The daily program in Brussels started early every day, so JCI Europe recommended accommodation with quick or close access to public transport.
